Hard pressed independent bricks and mortar DIY retailers in Ireland face a tough time ahead.
It’s emerged British hardware retailer Screwfix is planning a major increase in it’s presence across the country.
Having opened its first two stores in Ireland and it now says it plans to open dozens more.
The first two Screwfix outlets are in Sandyford and Swords in Co Dublin. A third will be in Waterford, and a fourth in Ennis, Co Clare, early next year.
But Screwfix – which has more than 650 stores in the UK – says it plans up to 40 outlets in Ireland.
